Mathilde

Mathilde - 2020 stems from Quakernaats fascination with the female body. '' women are the foundation of life. This work is about beauty, strength, the female body as sculpture and the mutual solidarity
Routine

Routine

Routine
As headscarves may be worn for a variety of purposes, Quakernaat shows that identity is not determinded by one garment, making it impossible for the viewer to determine the women's 'true identity'.

Nothing Compares 2U

Nothing Compares 2U deals with the transition into motherhood and the importance of self-care.
I believe that the myth about the ease and the casualness off mothering - the ideal of the of effortless and giving mother - is kept up, polished and emboldened so that woman are prevented from thinking clearly and negotiating vigorously about what they need from their partners and society in general, to mother well without having to sacrifice themselves.
